Anton Kawasaki may be most known as a "mobile photographer" these days, but he prefers the term "storyteller." Growing up around the film industry, studying theater & journalism in school, and working over a dozen years in the comic-book industry, Anton has drawn upon all of these mediums when approaching his photography -- concentrating on storytelling, emotion, character, and the human condition. He's received lots of recognition for his NYC street photography, and his photos have been featured in many magazines (both print and online) and photo exhibitions all over the world (including Berlin, San Francisco, New York, and Atlanta).
After an accident over half his life ago where he broke his back, Anton proved his doctors wrong after they told him he'd be confined to a wheelchair forever -- and to this day, he uses forearm crutches to walk. He discovered the joy of photography when he realized the enormous freedom that his iPhone gave him while taking pictures, despite his disability -- and he has become a huge supporter of the movement, writing about mobile photography for the DPR Connect site, and co-teaching (with Sion Fullana) online courses about it (which you can find more info about at the Mobile Photo Workshop site). He has also been hired to shoot events, and as a consultant for mobile photo apps.
